Charlotte Hodes: Women and Pattern, Bowes Museum, County Durham UK 13 October 2018 - 24 February 2019

This exhibition showcases over 10 years of ceramic work by Hodes within the Bowes Ceramic Galleries. Hodes ceramics utilize archetypal vessel forms and everyday tableware that she treats as her ‘canvas’ to build up rich and complex surfaces through a direct process of drawing and collage. This exhibition reveals the way in which Hodes’ practice is informed by historical decorative porcelain and how she transforms her source material to create contemporary imagery with a feminist narrative.

The exhibition includes work from her 2007 exhibition Fragmented Images at the Wallace Collection London, Silhouette and Filigree, Marlborough Fine Art as well as examples of work from her forthcoming installation After the Taking of Tea.
