Solo exhibition at Jaggedart, London 28.05.16-28.05.16
Dressed in Pattern features new paintings and ceramics which draw upon landscape and decorative motifs sourced from the Spode Museum Trust archive of engravings. These elements are appropriated and redrawn to create patterned surfaces which are interrupted by female silhouettes. The characteristic graphic marks of the engravings are reworked through the collaging of hand cut transfers. This exhibition will also see the publication of In the shadows, a sequence of limited edition relief prints created and printed at Oficina Bartolomeu Dos Santos (OBS) Tavira, Portugal.
These new artworks form part of a larger body of work made over a two year period which includes the installation Spode Trees & Dressed Silhouettes, commissioned for the British Ceramic Biennial 2015. This work was created with the support of Arts Council England research and development grant.
