Crafting a Difference, Argentine Ambassador's Official Residence, London, 4 - 10 October 2021
As part of a new Crafting a Difference exhibition for London Craft Week Charlotte Hodes presented a new configuration of her installation After the Taking of Tea alongside 4 vases at the Argentine Ambassador's Residence. The exhibition was curated by Andrea Harari and Brian Kennedy and brought together over 200 works by 30 artists from 5 contemporary craft galleries - jaggedart, Cavaliero Finn, MADEINBRITALY, Ting-Ying Gallery and Vessel Gallery. After the Taking of Tea was first shown in Charlotte’s solo exhibition at Ruthin Craft Centre, Wales in 2019. It presents multiple groupings of ready made chinaware on which the imagery plays with notions of tea and teatime, its historical importance in polite society and its contemporary role in which formality for the most part has been overturned.
